Sons of Anarchy is an Arican television drama series created by Kurt Sutter about the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in Northern California. The ow centers on protagonist Jkson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the Vice President of the club who begins questioning the club and himself.
Sons of Anarchy premiered on September 3, 2008 on cable work FX. Its second season debuted on September 8, 2009, and its third season began on September 7, 2010. The third season of the series attrted an average of 4.9 million viewers per week, making it FX’s highest rated series ever, surpassing FX’s other hits The Shield, NipTuck, and Rescue Me.
Sons of Anarchy is the story of the Teller-Morrow family of Charming, California, as well as the other mbers of Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO), their families, various Charming townspeople, and the various rivals and associates who undermine or support SAMCRO’s legal and illegal enterprises. The ow focuses on the original and founding charter, Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original, referred to by the ronym SAMCRO. or Sam Crow. This nickna is also reflected in the original title of the ow, Forever Sam Crow. The Redwood charter is headquartered in Charming, California, in a clubhouse adjent to the Teller-Morrow auto chanic op. Led by President Clay Morrow, the club protects and controls Charming through close munity relationips, bribery and violent intimidation.
John Teller and Piermont “Piney” Winston co-founded SAMCRO in 1967 following their return from the Vietnam War, where both n served in the paratroops. Six of the “Redwood Original 9″ mbers were vets; Clay Morrow was the youngest of the original mbers. John died in 1993, and his widow, Gemma, married Clay. Club mbers wear vests known as cuts or kuttes (jket with the sleeves cut off). The SOA patch on the bk is a Grim Reaper holding a crystal ball with the anarchy “A”, and wielding the Reaper’s traditional scythe, the handle of which has been repled by the M16 rifle the club’s founders wielded in Vietnam. Only full mbers can wear the “patch”. Other smaller patches on the vest stand for different things, examples being “Men Of Mayhem”, which is worn by club mbers who have spilled blood on the club’s behalf, and “First 9″, worn by the original nine mbers of SOA. Jax has also worn a baseball cap that says “Reaper Crew”, and at least two female charters affiliated with the club (Gemma, Tara) have crow tattoos. The Sons ride customized motorcycles of various types. Club mbers have “day jobs” in local industries, most of them working at the Teller-Morrow garage, but they primarily make money by illegally importing weapons, modifying and selling them to various gangs, along with protection runs for local businesses by protecting valuable truck ipnts from hijking.
The club operates out of a clubhouse on the sa lot as the Teller-Morrow auto op. The clubhouse includes a living area (where mbers sotis cra for the night), a bar, a pool table, a kitchen, a workout room nike free run 2 masculino , and the “chapel”, a room with an elaborate conference table made of redwood that has a reaper logo carved into the top. The club also owns a secluded cabin in the woods and forrly had a warehouse outside of town where they assembled the illegal weapons.
SAMCRO keeps th traffickers and drug dealers out of Charming, which puts them at odds with the th-distributing white supremist Nords, headed by Ernest Darby. SAMCRO also has to deal with a rival Oakland-based motorcycle club (MC), the Mayans led by Marcus Alvarez (who also features in The Shield episode 2, season 2). Other groups in SAMCRO’s orbit include the San Francisco-based Chinese mafia Lin Triad, led by Henry Lin, the Italian Arican Cuzza cri family, the True IRA of Ireland, which supplies them with illegal Russian-made guns, the “One-Niners”, an African Arican street gang (who also appeared on The Shield, thus possibly putting the two in the sa fictional universe) to whom SAMCRO sell weapons, and various affiliates in the state prison system, where many mbers of the club have been incarcerated at one ti or another.
Sutter has said of the Shakespeare elent, “I don’t want to overplay that but it’s there. It was Jax’s father who started the club, so he’s the ghost in the tion. You wonder what he would have made of the way it turned out. It’s not a version of Hamlet but it’s definitely influenced by it.”
